// conversations with oliver //

conversations with oliver have become to hilariously exciting for this first time mama. he repeats everything and has something to say about every little thing. my little chatterbox. this definitely is a favorite age for us. currently, some of our faves include:

whatcha doing, mama/dadee/nana?
(he asks this non-stop about everything)

mine do it!
(mr. independent and don't you dare try to do anything for him)

you love meee
(as he sings his barney song every night)

dear god, i love you god, thank you god
(his nightly prayer followed by a million 'te amo' and 'i love you's to us as we leave his room)

Every morning he seems to be waking up earlier and earlier and bring an entourage with him. Wake up- Dad-ee!

Never misses a workout with Mama.

Whatcha doing mama? Ah-ver (oliver) draw!

See the itty bitty worm he is putting back in?

oh, son, you are such a little character. thank you for putting up with my crazy ideas of capturing you into custom greeting cards for all we love to treasure. we just want to share you with our loved ones and you put up with it each time, most of the time. of course, bribes are always involved.

// two // dos // deux // dois //

my baby boy officially turned two years old on friday, january 23rd at 4:51pm. we took our lunch break with him for pizza (one of his favorite food) and games. the next day, we gathered our beloveds at Camp Oliver and celebrated his precious life.

i had been contemplating this theme since about two weeks before he turned one. i am so glad i waited because he was truly able to enjoy it. i can only imagine next year, how much more he will enjoy it all.

our party was full of pinterest inspo, as well as other mamas who had done camps for their littles, and a lot of imagination from geoff & i. we worked endlessly on weekends and after work to make it all come together. and even though the morning greeted us with the stress of 25mph wind gusts, the day turned out perfectly and we are beyond thankful for everyone who helped make it such a success.

i am throwing in the towel and not throwing any major parties until he turns five. although, i can't help imagining a service workers theme: mail carriers, trash trucks and fire trucks galore! ;)
maybe on a tiny scale, haha....i can't help myself! plus, mickey mouse + disneyland are calling our names and i can't wait to get season passes and start celebrating there, too!

here's to our little oliver d cruz....here's to everyone who has wholeheartedly supported our venture with him and loved him the same way we love him. i have truly been blessed to have our friends/family love him. he really is the way to my heart.

Here you are, Baby Boy! On the eve of your second birthday. I am full of emotions. Happy that you are here, growing healthy, intelligently and strong! Yet, sad at how fast time has gone by. It seems like only yesterday I held you in my arms for the very first time. I took in the amazing smell that only babies possess. I put my hand to your chest and immediately calmed you down. I am cuddling you with kisses nonstop today and affirmations of all the amazingness that you most certainly are. I am making sure to keep up with the little traditions we started last year. Like reading certain books, filling your bed with balloons, breakfast pancakes....I know they seem silly but they mean the world to me. Because they celebrate you. You are everything to me. You turn my world into a mess. This happy mess.

// "a portrait of my son, once a week, every week, in 2015" //

This week, my little boy has become OBSESSED with Barney + Baby Bop (and occasionally BJ). He has never been interested in cartoons. A few months ago, on a long road trip, heintently watched videos on trash trucks- it was the cutest thing. This week, Nana told us she randomly found Barney the night before and recorded it. She turned it on for him the following day and he was intrigued, as the TV is never on at her house. He ended up loving it and requesting as soon as we got home. But by then his excitement had become psycho-superfan-like. The following day, Nana found these two figurines and this boy, literally spent the next 24 hours not letting them go (throughout dinner, bathtime, the two-hour sleep scream battle, the next morning, in the car, etc). I arrived at Nana's house and he asked for a picture with them. He chose two spots- by a palm tree and in the middle of dried, dead grass and told them (Barney and Baby Bop) to say "cheeeese!" I was laughing, but now that I look at the picture, it looks like he was signing for "more," the only sign he still regularly uses. The sweetest, cutest thing, yet we are simultaneously weaning him off his obsession that started just a few days ago. All things in moderation, son, all things in moderation.
